Ventria Receives Friends of Education Award from Geary County School District
Ventria Bioscience received the Friends of Education Award from the Geary County School District Board. Ventria received the award for their commitment to providing unique educational opportunities in biotechnology for students and teachers. Ventria has provided students with opportunities for job shadowing and internships in biotechnology. In 2007, Ventria provided a grant for a teacher from Junction City High School to attend the Biotechnology Institute’s Teacher-Leader program and provided a guided tour of their bioprocessing facility for the Junction City High School Science Department Faculty.
“As a new business in Junction City, Ventria Bioscience quickly demonstrated itself to be a corporate citizen committed to supporting public education. The company has become a tremendous asset for USD 475 and Junction City High School. The Geary County Schools and the Junction City Education Association are most pleased to recognize and honor Ventria with a Friends of Education Certificate of Award from the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force,” said Charles Volland, District Communications Coordinator.
“Education is the foundation of future progress for society. Ventria is pleased to be able to contribute to educational opportunities for students and teachers in Junction City by supporting teacher training programs and offering student job shadowing and internships. We hope to inspire local students to see what is possible and become the next generation of scientists leading to a better tomorrow,” said Greg Unruh, Vice President and General Manager, Ventria Bioscience.
